This course is tailored to Northern Ireland

The 2.5 hour CPD accredited course is designed for frontline staff who work with vulnerable and low-income groups who are at risk from living in cold and damp homes.
It covers the impacts that living in fuel poverty can have on individuals’ physical and mental health and how these can influence a person’s interaction with the energy market.

Course objectives

  • Explore different fuel poverty definitions​
  • Identify the main risk factors that increase the chances of a household being in fuel poverty​
  • Examine the impacts of fuel poverty and cold homes on physical and mental health​
  • Explain how tackling fuel poverty could improve physical and mental health​
  • Explore ways to support clients

Course delivery options

  • Webinar – Training will be delivered live via Zoom (video conferencing facility)
  • Face to face option is available.

Some FULLY FUNDED PLACES are available, supported by the Public Health Agency, to non-commercial organisations, including local health teams, housing providers, voluntary and community groups, and advice agency staff.
Learners must be frontline staff or volunteers that encounter and provide advice to those in or at risk of fuel poverty.
