Newcastle charity’s Walk for Warmth to show support for fuel poor

Content Type:
Nation / Region: North East , Newcastle

Newcastle-based National Energy Action’s third annual Walk for Warmth will be taking place this Saturday (21 February). This guided walk is a family-friendly event dedicated to raising awareness and life-changing funds to tackle fuel poverty across the UK. We are walking together to raise vital funds to help keep people in desperate need warm in their own home and raise awareness about our work and services.

Details for our Newcastle walk:

  • Starting at One Strawberry Lane, walking up to and through the glorious Exhibition Park and Leazes Park, rounding at St James Park, before finishing up with a hot drink and some tasty snacks at the end.
  • Date: 21 February 2026
  • Start time: 2.00pm
  • Meeting point and post-walk gathering: One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4BX
  • Suggested fundraising target: £50 minimum (individual/team)

National Energy Action Fundraising Manager Jess Irwin says, ‘It’s been another really tough winter for so many households in the UK struggling to afford their energy bills. Millions are struggling to keep warm and well at home, including 6 million children, and events like this are so important to raise awareness and vital funds, as well as to show solidarity with those in fuel poverty. Last year’s Walk had a brilliant turnout, so we’re excited to be doing it again.’
