National Energy Action’s webinars and some assessments are delivered using Zoom communications platform.

When using Zoom for the first time on a new device you will be asked to download the Zoom app or Web Client.

We strongly recommend that you do this in advance to avoid any delays on the day. The App can be found at the Zoom Download Center.

You do not need to create an account or download any of the additional plugins to join a meeting. You should not be asked for bank details etc. at any point.

TIP – If you are connecting to Zoom from laptop or desktop computer with windows there is an option to ‘join from your browser’ rather than downloading the app. This option should appear once you click a meeting link (this option is sometime hidden by the ‘join meeting’ dialog box which you may have to move in order to see the ‘join from your browser’ link). This option runs best in Chrome.

  • Click the meeting link provided in your joining instructions
  • Click the join meeting button (alternatively, as outlined above, if you are accessing Zoom from a windows device you can opt to ‘join from your browser’. This link should appear below the join meeting button)
  • Enter the meeting password provided in your joining instructions
  • Please join with video and audio.
  • Once you join the meeting you will be placed in a ‘waiting room’ until the event lead admits you to the meeting.

If for some reason the above link does not work you can also join via www.zoom.us. From the ‘meet’ menu, select ‘join a meeting’ then enter the meeting ID and password as outlined in your joining instructions.

Further details on how to join a Zoom meeting can be found on their website at the following link: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362193
