Workshops and lessons
Our educator‑led workshops enrich the curriculum by transforming important concepts into meaningful, hands‑on learning experiences. They give students the opportunity to explore real‑world challenges, collaborate with others, and develop practical skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
These sessions enhance learning across science, PSHE, and English, while also helping young people build the knowledge and confidence they need for independent living and responsible citizenship.
To support continued learning, every school receives a suite of downloadable lesson resources that reinforce the golden threads of energy efficiency, renewable technologies, and independent living—ensuring these themes can be explored and embedded throughout the wider curriculum.
Key Stage 3 Workshop
Net Zero: Why it matters to you!
This workshop analyses the government’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2050 and considers how these targets apply practically to young people in different aspects of their lives. The workshop will explore renewable energy resources and retrofit, as well as relevant career options. The young people will work collaboratively in small groups to apply their learning and design a net zero town before presenting their business plan to the rest of the workshop.
Every school that books a KS3 workshop with us will receive a downloadable link to four follow- on lessons.
Watt’s up! Understanding energy use and independent living
Key Stage 4
KS4 workshop: Watt’s up!
This workshop involves exploring energy efficiency of different appliances and explaining the effect of power ratings on energy bills. Students will also perform calculations to find energy efficiency and electricity running costs. Students will look at a range of electricity meters and take readings as well as calculating energy bills whilst acting as energy advisors. Students will identify how to reduce heat loss within the home by insulation measures as well as how to reduce condensation and mould growth. This workshop includes content from the GCSE physics specification.
