Non-Financial Ways to Support National Energy Action
There are many ways you can support National Energy Action beyond donating or taking part in fundraising events.
Whether it’s spreading the word, engaging decision-makers, or sharing your story, your support makes a real difference.

Write to your elected representative
Policy change starts when people speak up. By writing to your elected representative, you can help make tackling fuel poverty a political priority. Encourage them to support policies that lower energy bills for low‑income households, invest in energy efficiency and advice services, and stand up for the most vulnerable people in their communities.
Gift Aid your donation
Gift Aid boosts your donation at no extra cost. If you’re a UK taxpayer, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give simply by you ticking the Gift Aid box or completing a short declaration. If you’ve already donated and forgot to add it, just contact us.
Give through your payroll
Payroll giving is a simple, tax‑efficient way to donate directly from your salary. You choose how much to give each month, and because the donation is taken before tax, it costs you less while allowing you to give more. Your regular support helps us plan ahead and reach more people. To get started, ask your employer if they offer a payroll giving scheme or sign up through a provider such as Charities Trust or CAF.
Share your story
If you’ve experienced fuel poverty or supported someone who has, your story can help us show the real impact of cold homes and rising energy bills. We will always respect your confidentiality and can use a pseudonym or anonymise details if you prefer. By sharing your experience, you help policymakers and funders understand the human cost of fuel poverty, encourage others in similar situations to seek help, and strengthen our campaigns for lasting change.
Raising awareness is powerful. By following us and sharing our posts on social media, you help us reach more people who may need support and those who might be inspired to get involved. Your posts can help someone find energy advice or support services, encourage others to donate or fundraise, and spread the word about the reality of living in a cold home. Follow us and share our updates with your network to help amplify our message.
