Fuel Poverty Awareness Day 2026

On Wednesday 18 November 2026, National Energy Action’s Fuel Poverty Awareness Day will shine a light on the scale and impact of fuel poverty on children and their health now and throughout their lives.

Through the Warm Homes Plan the Government has set out a road map and commitment to ensure that children in the UK no longer risk living in cold damp homes. Government now needs to deliver on that commitment.

Join National Energy Action in urging the Government to:

1. Ensure children and families’ homes are targeted and prioritised for access to support for efficiency upgrades.

All children deserve to grow up in healthy and safe warm homes. Targeting investment in the Warm Homes Plan on children and families’ homes will protect some of our most vulnerable from the immediate and long-term negative impacts of living in cold damp homes.

2. End the inequality faced by children living in rented homes by implementing and enforcing stronger minimum energy efficiency standards.

We can deliver warmer, safer, more efficient homes for children living in the private rented sector. End delay by agreeing energy efficiency standards and establishing local enforcement of standards.

3. Prevent children from living in cold damp homes this winter with targeted support for low-income households with children, and remove the benefit cap.

Today is National Energy Action’s #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay. We’re calling on the UK Government to give families the support they need to stay warm and to deliver deeper and broader energy bill support for low-income households with children, and remove the benefit cap.
