Terminal Illness and Energy Costs: How to Support Vulnerable Clients
FUNDED WEBINAR
10 November 2026, 9:30am to 12:00pm
Delivered in partnership with Marie Curie
People living with a terminal illness are among those most vulnerable to the impacts of fuel poverty. As health deteriorates, many individuals spend more time at home, require warmer living environments, experience rising energy costs, and may face reduced household income. Living in a cold home can have a significant impact on comfort, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.
This collaborative training session, delivered by National Energy Action (NEA) and Marie Curie, brings together expertise in fuel poverty and end-of-life care to help frontline staff recognise risk factors, have supportive conversations, and connect clients with the practical and specialist support they need.
To increase understanding of the relationship between terminal illness and fuel poverty, enabling frontline staff to identify risks early, apply relevant NG6 recommendations in real-world casework, and confidently navigate specialist support services and financial assistance options that improve outcomes for people approaching the end of life.
This webinar is designed for frontline workers encountering vulnerable and low-income groups (particularly with a terminal illness and/or in palliative care) who are at risk due to living in cold and damp homes.
Funded places are available to non-commercial organisations based in England and Wales (such as local authorities, housing associations, advice agencies, etc.). Learners must also be frontline staff or volunteers that encounter and provide advice to those in or at risk of fuel poverty.
