The BEIS Secretary of State has commissioned an independent review of the Government’s approach to delivering its net zero target. The Terms of Reference have been reframed to ensure that delivery is pro-growth and pro-business. We are supportive of the Government’s net zero strategy and believe that this can be conducive of growth, as well as improving energy security and affordability for fuel poor households. However, we emphasise that efforts must be made and complementary measures introduced to ensure that fuel poor and/or vulnerable households are not paying disproportionately for the transition to net zero.
