NI Manifesto for Warmth
In our Manifesto for Warmth, we are calling on the next Northern Ireland Executive, the Assembly, and local councils to take action to end fuel poverty in Northern Ireland.
The next Northern Ireland Assembly elections and Local Government elections are both due to be held on 6 May 2027. These elections provide a vital opportunity to focus collective efforts and drive fuel poverty out of our homes, ensuring that vulnerable people across Northern Ireland can afford to keep warm now and into the future.
This must be a moment for all political parties to commit to enduring action to end fuel poverty in NI – preventing harm and delivering lasting societal and economic benefits across housing, health, the environment, and social justice.
Our key asks
In our Manifesto for Warmth, we are calling on the next NI Executive, Assembly, and local councils to commit to our five key asks:
- Deliver the Executive’s Warm Healthy Homes Strategy (2026-2036).
- Significantly increase investment in energy efficiency to cut bills, tackle fuel poverty, and make homes greener.
- Improve protections for renters against cold, damp homes.
- Provide additional financial support for fuel poor households.
- Introduce regulatory oversight of the heating oil market.
