Our response

NEA NI’s response sets out support for a low carbon heat scheme for the residential sector. We emphasise that any scheme must delivered in line with Just Transition principles. We call for a flexible approach to technologies, including hybrid heat pumps, and a dual-support model combining heating grants with energy efficiency upgrades.

We emphasise that support should be targeted, comprehensive, and grant-based for low-income and vulnerable households. We advocate for strong consumer protections and simple scheme design, as well as the need to address skills shortages and supply chain gaps to ensure a scheme is effective and accessible.
