Fuel Poverty Awareness Day is coming

This winter could be the most devastating for fuel poor customers in years.  Those who were already struggling with their energy costs may find that they are plunged deeper into crisis, while others who may have never been worried about their finances could find themselves in a very different situation to where they were 12 months ago. Many people are spending additional time at home and may need support with how to stay warm and safe; while those who are ill or self-isolating may also have concerns about practical challenges in paying for their energy, particularly if they have a pre-payment meter.

Friday 27 November will mark Fuel Poverty Awareness Day 2020 and we have never needed your support more to get key messages out to vulnerable people this winter.

How to get involved:

  • Support us on social media, using the hashtags #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay and #WarmSafeHomes. We will endeavour to like and re-tweet anything you post on the day.
  • Signpost support in your area or share information on NEA’s Warm and Safe Homes Advice Service
  • Engage with your local MP or other elected officials and encourage them to raise awareness of the issue locally
  • Hold a virtual event on the day. You can apply for our Utilita Energy High 5 awards to support events such as these until 19th October.

More information including campaign resources will be available nearer the time. To receive your media pack, or for any further questions, contact Michael.Potter@nea.org.uk .
