Warm Healthy Homes Fund Consultation

Our response
Building on our long-standing call for a more ambitious, well-funded and targeted domestic energy efficiency programme, NEA NI’s response welcomes the overall direction of the proposals and the NI Executive’s commitment to establish the Warm Healthy Homes Fund.
The Fund represents a significant opportunity to improve warmth, health outcomes, and energy affordability for low-income and vulnerable households across NI. While we support many of the proposals set out in the consultation, our response includes recommendations to strengthen the Fund’s design and delivery, ensuring it is person-centred, effectively targeted, and capable of delivering lasting benefits for those most affected by fuel poverty.
NEA NI also emphasises the need to secure the £150 million investment identified by the Department for Communities to deliver the ambitions of the scheme over its first five years. Without sustained and adequate funding, the scheme’s ambitions cannot be translated into meaningful improvements for households experiencing fuel poverty.
