Activity 4

THE PROBLEM WITH CARBON MONOXIDE

Gas appliances are very safe as long as we use them properly and have them checked regularly. But we all need to know how to keep safe when using gas appliances

Read, or listen-and-read-along with, the ‘Bad Nana’ story, telling you about the day Jeanie, her brother and Bad Nana had to take urgent action to help a friend.

You can listen to the story being read and read along yourself by clicking on the video here.

If you’d prefer to read the story yourself, you can download a copy of the book from the Gas Safe Register here: Bad Nana Better Safe Than Sorry

Now that you’ve heard Jeanie’s story, can you remember (or go back to check):

signs of a problem with a faulty gas appliance in your home?

symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning?

things you should do if you think someone might have carbon monoxide poisoning?

things you should do if you smell an eggy smell that might be a gas leak?
