The project installed and compared the performance of three makes of batteries from, Moixa, Sonnen and Growatt in 41 properties across three London boroughs. The systems are manufactured with differing battery technology and product costs. The evaluation will consider the cost effectiveness of the different systems. Camden Council will administer the scheme to fit the batteries into 41 council owned and tenanted street properties in Camden, Islington and Waltham Forest. The project is being delivered by the London Borough of Camden, with partners North Star Solar financing the solar PV and sourcing the best battery models available on the UK market, Lakehouse overseeing the project and construction, and Solgain carrying out the installations. The three local authority partners are providing enabling works, project management and home energy advice visits. The project aims to significantly reduce household electricity bills and will this will be monitored and verified through robust evaluation.
