Community events in support of Fuel Poverty Awareness Day and The Nation’s Biggest Housewarming
National Energy Action (NEA) is running a small grants scheme for organisations to apply to deliver a community event in your local area in support of one of our winter campaigns:
Fuel Poverty Awareness Day (27 November 2024) or The Nation’s Biggest Housewarming (week commencing Monday 25 November 2024)
NEA is the national fuel poverty and energy efficiency charity. We’ve worked across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland for over 40 years, to ensure that everyone in the UK can afford to live in a warm, safe and healthy home.
We work together with frontline practitioners, companies, regulators and the government for customers in vulnerable circumstances to make positive changes.
This winter, 6 million UK households will be living in fuel poverty. Our aim is to ensure that everyone has access to a warm, healthy and affordable-to-heat home.
Fuel Poverty Awareness Day aims to highlight the detrimental impacts experienced by people living in fuel poverty. Show your support by hosting an event in your community to ensure householders are aware of the assistance available and have access to energy efficiency advice. You can apply below for up to £350 to support the cost.
The Nation’s Biggest Housewarming is our annual campaign to encourage our supporters to hold events and activities to raise awareness and support for people in fuel poverty. Your organisation could host its own ‘housewarming’ event in the local community to provide householders with information on how they can keep warm this winter. You can apply below for up to £350 to support the cost.
Who we’re looking to work with
We’re looking for a diverse range of partners to support our campaigns by delivering a householder-focused community event, to provide information and advice to help as many vulnerable householders as possible to prepare for winter and to keep warm and well.
This year, we are particularly looking to support organisations that will have a focus on health. We know that cold homes and fuel poverty exacerbate health inequalities, cause and worsen health conditions, and lead to thousands of excess winter deaths.
We will support your event by providing a simple slide deck featuring key information for householders who are concerned about their fuel bills. Alongside this, we’ll send you a pack of leaflets, carbon monoxide monitors and pens to have as giveaways at your event.
We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Limited funding is available, and grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.
NEA is offering grants of up to £350 to support your event. The funding must be spent by 28 February 2025. You can use the funds to cover staff time and/or event costs such as room hire and refreshments. We will only accept one application per organisation.
Who can apply?
We are seeking applications from charities, community groups, local authorities and housing associations based in England and Wales. Funding is limited and we reserve the right to prioritise making awards to smaller, localised organisations who can demonstrate reaching marginalised or under-represented people in their application.
Successful applicants will be expected to capture brief details about the people who attend the community event and complete a summary report. A template will be provided.
Grant funds cannot be used in conjunction with any other Ofgem-funded project.
Please note our decision is final. Only successful applicants will be contacted.
