Park home insulation (CP783 report combined with CP784)

LEAD AGENCY: YES Energy Solutions
OTHER PARTNERS:  North Lincolnshire Council
PROJECT SUMMARY: YES Energy Solutions plan to install two different Park Home external wall insulation systems into 38 properties. These are the SPS Envirowall Wall System and the JUB Jubizol premium. The site is in a Carbon Savings Community Obligation (CSCO) area and is poorly insulated. In addition to Park Home wall insulation, loft and floor insulation will be offered where technically feasible.
EVALUATION METHODOLOGY: Interviews will be conducted with a sample of households to assess their energy use behaviours and previous energy expenditure. This will be supplemented by carrying out thermal data-logging using recognised calibrated standalone devices, energy meter readings will also be provided by householders – if LPG heating, a gas meter will be fitted to enable recording, and electric metering will be fitted to electric heating systems. Monitoring will be 12 months, including a full winter heating period.
PROJECT OUTCOMES:
  • NEA is interested in this project as it will demonstrate the benefits of Park Home Insulation, whilst evaluating and comparing the performance of two different Ofgem-approved Park Home insulation systems.
  • Data will be captured in relation to installation time, ease of fitting and the complexity of these different insulation technologies.
  • It will also assess the impact insulation improvements have on fuel bill savings and resident well-being.
  • Data collected from customer satisfaction surveys will identify which system residents prefer in terms of comfort levels and aesthetics.
  • There is little field data and case study evidence about the benefits of insulation measures in Park Homes. This project will offer a blueprint for future schemes and showcase the impacts, processes and pitfalls of Park Home insulation.
