Smarter storage heaters (CP765)
Post on 25th Jan 2019
This project retrofitted existing night storage heaters with VCharge Dynamos in a tower block situated in the west end of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Despite the tower block being previously insulated and the windows being replaced, residents continued to note that they were unable to keep warm at a reasonable cost. The VCharge Dynamo aims to increase comfort and reduce energy use by charging the storage heaters by an amount proportionate to the households predicted preferences, taking into account the internal temperature, previous consumption patterns and external temperatures to determine how much charge is required. A total of 26 properties received VCharge Dynamos and of these 14 were monitored.
Dimplex Quantum storage heaters (CP756)
Post on 26th Oct 2017
The project was delivered by Aspire Housing, in the Newcastle under Lyme area of North Staffordshire. The properties targeted are too far from gas mains to benefit from a gas supply. They had benefited from general improvements to meet the Decent Homes Standard, but due to their old inefficient storage heating were still designated ‘hard to heat’.
Dimplex storage with water heaters and voltage optimisation (CP744)
Post on 06th Oct 2017
This project was delivered by Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) in collaboration with Greenvision Energy Ltd. It involved replacing 20-year old standard storage heaters with the ‘Dimplex Quantum’ high retention electric storage heaters; and replacing existing 10-year old domestic hot water (DHW) cylinders with ‘Dimplex EC Eau ECSd cylinders, with programmer and immersion.
Daikin Altherma hybrid heat pumps, Copeland and South Tyneside (CP747)
Post on 06th Sep 2017
This project involved installing Daikin Altherma hybrid heat pumps in 24 properties. It also required connection to the gas grid which was funded separately via the Fuel Poor Network Extension Scheme (FPNES) through Northern Gas Networks, which incentivises the regulated gas network companies to connect low-income households and communities to the mains gas network.
