Make a draught tester for your home

Sometimes we get cold at home because there are draughts from gaps around windows, doors, pipes or floorboards.

Follow these instructions to make a draught tester to measure those unwanted gaps and draughts – and block them up!

Make sure you ask an adult before using scissors!

You will need:

A ruler

An empty cereal box

A pair of scissors

A glue stick

Some string

A hole punch

1) Cut out 10 rectangles of card, each around 5cm long and 2cm wide.

2) Make a hole at the end of each rectangle using the hole punch.

3) Stick THREE pieces of card together, one on top of the other, making sure that all the holes are at the same end.

4) Next stick SIX pieces together in the same way. You should have one strip left over.

5) Thread the three blocks together using string.

Your draught tester is now ready to find and measure the gaps around windows and doors so that you can block them up!
