Smart meter training for installers

CPD-Logo1This course is aimed at Smart Meter installers and it will equip them with the skills to answer householder’s queries regarding new Smart Meters.
Course outline

Technical issues, health concerns and the experiences of customers involved in meter installation trials will all be discussed. A mandate from Ofgem requires installers to identify customers in vulnerable situations. This course includes advice, trigger sign posts and suggested actions when installers are faced with vulnerable customers.

  • Using local referral partners to identify opportunities for using new installations to recognise vulnerability and successfully deal with vulnerable customers
  • Examine the impacts of fuel poverty on health
  • Identify triggers for spotting signs of vulnerability in a home
  • Explain domestic fuel running costs and bills to inform switching and tariff changes
  • Engage with householders to promote behavioural change and the necessary soft skills to communicate effectively
  • Advise on getting the most from smart meters and in home displays
  • Provide energy efficiency, behaviour change and heating controls advice
