The Community Action Partnership with Walsall MBC and Walsall Housing Group (whg) is providing a range of practical and strategic support to local organisations in Walsall to progress affordable warmth activity across the area. It will involve a range of community engagement activities and a fuel poverty consultation event as well as training for 200 frontline workers and 200 energy champions in the borough.

How do I get involved?

We are keen to engage with any organisation or individual that feels they have a role to play in tackling fuel poverty in Walsall. For further information contact Lorraine Gumbs, Regional Manager, Warm Zones CIC on 0121 544 4689 or lorraineg@warmzones.co.uk.

Launch of Community Action Partnership in Walsall

The partnership was launched at an event in Walsall Housing Group’s offices in Hatherton Street in Walsall on the 13th February.  Partners had the opportunity to talk to Walsall residents and community champions about their experiences and their involvement in the scheme. The first eight frontline workers were awarded their certificates along with the first volunteer to be trained- Jimmy Lawlor.

Jimmy said “I came along to the training just to see if there was anything I could do to cut my own bills and pass on the valuable information to friends, family and neighbours. I am now keen to share my knowledge with others, particularly older people who may be suffering health issues or spending more time in their homes. I get great satisfaction out of volunteering particularly when helping people in difficulty in my own community and getting to know people in the local area. I would urge other people to get involved in the Community Action Partnership training so they too can cut their energy costs and help others to do the same”.
