Fuel Debt Advice Training 2017-18 – Expression of Interest
Over 750 frontline workers across Wales have been trained on our free fuel debt advice training courses, since 2012. This has been part of a multi-faceted project supported by SSE SWALEC to help low income, vulnerable households struggling with their energy bills.
NEA’s one-day Fuel Debt Advice in the Community training course, accredited by City & Guilds, is an ideal introduction for advice workers involved with clients who are in fuel debt or for the more experienced advisor as an update. It aims to give participants a clearer understanding of the pathways involved in resolving fuel debt and covers the main issues including:
- causes of fuel debt
- responsibilities (customer, fuel supplier, landlord)
- payment options
- meter and billing problems
- complaints procedures
- grants and assistance available
In 2016/17, we trained 101 workers from more than 20 different organisations in Wales and received excellent feedback. Previous delegates have said, “Excellent course with easily understandable and useful information. Great tutor.” We are now in the process of reapplying for funding for 2017/18. We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals and organisations who feel that they would benefit from this training in the next financial year. Note: If successful, courses will likely begin in Autumn 2017.
