NEA comment on CMA’s proposal for a price cap for prepayment meter customers
Commenting on the CMA’s proposal for a price cap for prepayment meter customers, Jenny Saunders OBE, Chief Executive of National Energy Action (NEA) said:
“The CMA are right to highlight that energy is an essential service and many customers on prepayment can’t afford to pay over £200 more a year than other customers. We therefore welcome the key recommendation for a transitional price control for prepayment customers and we will urge the Government and Regulator to move quickly to implement these plans. We also agree these arrangements should be reviewed in 2020, by which time PPM customers will have benefited from other key initiatives like the roll-out of smart meters”.
