28,296 to £32,879 (Scale SO1-SO2, Points 23-28) plus non-contributory pension worth 11.5% of salary. 25 days holiday, plus 3 fixed days between Christmas and New Year and all public holidays.

NEA is looking for a fixed term postholder or secondee for a period of 2 years for the role of Technical Evaluation Officer. There may be opportunity to extend subject to funding.

The post holder will report to NEA’s Innovation and Technical Evaluation Manager. We are looking for a candidate who would ideally be based in NEA’s Head Office, Newcastle but consideration will be given to exceptional candidates outside of the North East if they are able to demonstrate a willingness to travel to North East to participate in field work when necessary.

NEA’s Innovation and Technical Evaluation team are responsible for leading on NEA’s socio-technical field trials to better understand how innovation and technologies can be used to enhance outcomes for fuel poor customers who may be reliant on a low income and/or living in a vulnerable situation.

A large part of the role will be to deliver comprehensive social and technical monitoring within the homes of clients to understand the impact of energy efficiency interventions on a client’s comfort and affordability and the overall impact on the thermal efficiency of the home. The successful post holder will also have responsibility for delivering tailored technical energy advice to householders, which may include communicating complex information about heating systems and their controls in an accessible way.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate understanding or experience of energy efficiency, heating and insulation technologies and their application in domestic settings.
