The Warm Home Discount places an obligation on medium and larger energy suppliers to support people who are living in or at risk of fuel poverty. Some smaller suppliers also voluntarily participate in part of the scheme.

The Industry Initiative element of the scheme allows suppliers to help fuel-poor customers through third parties.

NEA is a trusted partner, making Warm Home Discount work for Ofgem, energy companies and consumers.

Our projects:

  • Aim to maximise the impact of the WHD II support to help tackle fuel poverty and ensure that vulnerable, low-income households across England and Wales can enjoy warmer, healthier homes
  • Use a multifaceted approach to deliver support for fuel-poor households and the professionals who support them
  • Offer a holistic package of support to vulnerable clients
  • Have been successfully audited and are fully compliant with the WHD II scheme

To date, NEA has achieved the following on behalf of suppliers

  • Delivered energy advice to over 4500 consumers via energy awareness sessions, advice surgeries and 1:1 case management support
  • Trained around 3,000 frontline workers to be better able to provide energy and fuel debt advice, securing a project legacy far beyond the operating period
  • Secured fuel debt grants and other financial assistance of almost £70,000
  • Supported access to benefits with a total value of £3.8 million

In 2020-21 we are delivering on behalf of eight suppliers.
