NEA and Saudi Aramco are delighted to announce that the greetings cards, featuring the shortlisted entries, are now available to purchase.

Packs cost £4.00. Each pack of cards contains 12 designs with the winning poems featuerd in the centre. 

WINNERS - NEA and Saudi Aramco are delighted to announce the following students as winners in the Keeping Kozee Competition

Age 11-12 Arjun Dosa, Mill Hill County High School
Age 13-14 Ligaya Moss, Mill Hill County High School

15 shortlisted entries were chosen and the pupil behind the idea invited to the London Science Museum for a day of high energy fun and to receive their prizes. Five over all winners were also chosen, with the winning schools receiving £400 to spend on energy related products and projects.

The NEA and Saudi Aramco Keeping Kozee Competition is an art and design competition aimed at pupils aged 5-18 years and can be done in school, at home, at a local community group such as Brownies and Cubs or at a youth club.

We want children from across England to create entries which depict energy efficiency in the home. Entries could be one of the following: poster or drawing; digital photograph; short video or animation;poem; graphic/web design; painting; sculpture; innovative piece of art using a medium not previously mentioned such as textiles. Take a look at the entries we have received so far. They are fantastic! 

This could include:

  • a photo of their pet hamster curled up in its insulating bedding
  • a picture showing ways to be more energy efficient
  • a poem about how important it is to keep warm throughout the winter
  • a photo of wind turbines turning in the breeze
  • a painting of someone wrapped up warm on a snowy day
  • a web page with hints and tips on how to save energy
  • a picture of the sun shining on solar panels
  • Invent an energy saving cartoon character. Remember Captain Planet?
  • a short film with a talking energy saving light bulb giving an energy efficient guided tour through a house
Entries to the competition will be accepted under five age groups:

  • Key Stage 1: 5-7 years old
  • Key Stage 2: 7-11 years old
  • Key Stage 3: 11-14 years old
  • Key Stage 4: 14-16 years old (GCSE students
  • Key Stage 5: 16-18 years old (Sixth Form and Higher Education students )

Why not set it as a homework task?

There will be 15 shortlisted entries, 3 from each age group and 5 national winners, one from each age group.

Shortlisted pupils will be invited to attend a national event where their entries will be showcased.

A winner from each age group, 5 in total, will be chosen from the shortlisted entries and will be announced at the event. Each national winner will have their design turned into a greeting card and receive a £400 prize for their school to spend on energy efficiency products or towards an energy efficiency project. If a winning prize is a short film or media clip it will be promoted on the NEA and Saudi Aramco website.

The idea behind the competition is to get the children thinking creatively about energy efficiency, affordable warmth and the associated environmental agenda.
