NEA, in partnership with British Gas, is organising a series of half-day seminars entitled ‘Spotlight on Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation: Engaging in the consultation process'. A sample programme is below, there is no charge for attendance.
The Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO) provide a huge opportunity to ensure that the energy efficiency of the UK housing stock is improved; however the challenge is to ensure that ECO is delivered in a way that prioritises the needs of low-income and vulnerable consumers.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) will consult on ECO in October and the seminars will provide those attending with an outline of what is being proposed, background on some of the lessons learned from the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), the Community Energy Savings Programme (CESP) and British Gas Green Deal and address some of the key questions raised in the consultation document.
Speakers from DECC, British Gas, the Local Government Group (LGG) (tbc) and NEA will provide informed background information and facilitate discussion to elicit views from those attending on how the ECO can best deliver for those on low-incomes and vulnerable consumers. This seminar series is relevant to all agencies who could potentially be involved in delivering ECO at a local level.
To reserve a place please email Brian Hart giving your full contact details, the location of the event you intend to go to and any specific dietary or facility requirements you may have. We do anticipate that demand will exceed the number of places available so should you be unable to attend having been offered a place, please do let us know so we can allocate your place to someone else.
For more information about the content of the seminars please contact Claire Henderson.
