Underfloor insulation across London Borough of Camden (CP1025)

LEAD AGENCY: London Borough of Camden
OTHER PARTNERS: Q Bot
PROJECT SUMMARY: The programme utilises a small robot to provide underfloor insulation for hard to reach timber framed floors in 40 social housing properties across Camden. The application represents and innovative method of installing underfloor insulation.
EVALUATION METHODOLOGY: Conduct household interviews with a sample of each sub-group to capture household behaviours and previous energy expenditure. 8 installations are being delayed for monitoring purposes but will receive the intervention in January / February 2017.

Supplement household interviews with energy and thermal data logging.

PROJECT OUTCOMES: This programme utilises new technology to install insulation in draughty underfloor spaces. Although a relatively small trial, key lessons can be extracted from the application and the product being installed. NEA will use this programme to evaluate the future viability of this product and installation technique. Experiences from residents receiving this intervention will also be extracted during household interviews.
