Dimplex storage with water heaters and VPO (CP744)
|LEAD AGENCY:||Nottingham Community Housing Association|
|OTHER PARTNERS:||Greenvision Energy Limited|
|PROJECT SUMMARY:||The project will raise the energy efficiency and EPC rating of 41 properties (a combination of houses and flats) in various locations around Nottinghamshire, to be achieved using a “whole house” approach.
The programme will install the following measures: Dimplex Quantum high heatretention storage heaters to replace existing 20+ year old storage heaters and panel heaters in the bedrooms; Dimplex water heaters to replace existing 10+ year old immersion heaters. Voltage optimisation unit (Matt:e); wireless “energy monitoring” software will be installed to show real-time electrical consumption via time/date and source (providing data on what is using the most electricity in the property and how this can be reduced); LED lighting throughout the property; water saving shower heads and taps.
Each tenant will receive an energy saving training session to help them reduce bills even further, pre-pay meters may be swapped with standard meters (where applicable and if in-line with tenants requirements).
|EVALUATION METHODOLOGY:||LED lighting and water reducing fittings will be installed, 5-6 weeks before other measures installed. NEA will conduct interviews with a sample of households to capture behaviours and previous energy expenditure. Monitoring equipment (thermal data loggers) will be fitted at this time.
Household interviews will be supplemented with electricity and thermal data logging conducted with recognised calibrated stand-alone devices. Voltage and current clamps will be used either side of the voltage optimisation units to assess energy savings on a sub-section of households, householders will also provide manual meter readings. Monitoring will be for 12 months, and must include a full winter heating period.
