Project Summary:
Care & Repair Agencies administer the Rapid Response Adaptations Programme (minor adaptations and small repairs) for the Welsh Government in order to secure safe discharge from hospital or to prevent admissions to hospital. Through casework assessment, we identified older people struggling to heat their home effectively and offered a range of solutions. The Warm & Healthy Homes Fund grant provided an added focus for Care & Repair Agencies to assist clients with key measures, e.g. boiler repairs, draught-exclusion, insulation etc.
In addition, wider assessments of clients’ homes were carried out to provide technical support for any improvements; advice on energy suppliers and tariffs; income maximisation to tackle poverty; temporary heating for crisis management; and an assessment on how the householders manage with the heating system in their home.
