The Department of Energy and Climate Change is the Government department which for England manages the main grant scheme which addresses Fuel Poverty.
The Department brings together much of the Climate Change Group, previously housed within the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), with the Energy Group from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR).
The Department's priorities are:
- Ensuring our energy is secure, affordable and efficient;
- Bringing about the transition to a low-carbon Britain;
- Achieving an international agreement on climate change in Copenhagen in December 2009.
DECC includes the Office of Climate Change.
