Condemned gas heating appliance research
Commissioned by Defra, examining policy and procedures of energy suppliers to protect consumers in the event of an appliance being condemned.
Maximising Income (August 2005)
The project involved research into the most effective means of promoting income maximization with Warm Front. This included benefit health checks for those applying for grants to ensure they are claiming all the benefits to which they are entitled. The approach focused on: efficient and effective ways to identify households likely to benefit; the most effective approach to encourage take up of additional benefits; ways to ensure that any advice on unclaimed benefits is followed through to a successful claim including links with existing welfare rights services.

Scheme Integration
NEA was commissioned by the Local Authority Operational Group (LAOG) of the Energy Efficiency Partnership for Homes to carry out a research-based overview of policy and practice regarding the integration of energy efficiency schemes UK-wide. Reports have been submitted to Defra and EST and are available on the EST website.

Fast-tracking of Warm Front
A pilot study commissioned by Defra with an evaluation element to explore the feasibility and practicality of a fast-tracking mechanism within Warm Front, working within the health sector.
Optimising take up of Warm Front
This project built on the research into barriers to Warm Front take up undertaken during 2003-04. The project involved a trial, with Scheme Managers, of promotional material targeted at private landlords, a barrier identified in the research undertaken in 2003-04.
